We survived the debate last Saturday. It was very obvious on both sides who had prepared and who was just coasting along. The instructor seemed pleased with the debate and everyone behaved themselves (more or less . . . one of my teammates couldn't seem to keep from making snide comments but what can you do?) I need to make the last revisions on my third essay tomorrow night and then start preparing my annotated bibliography for Essay Four. At least we're in the home stretch with this class.
In my "Writing for TV and Radio", our final project is a pitch for a new TV show. I was thinking about using my initial pitch for the kids show that I did a few weeks ago and expanding/cleaning it up. However, I think I have a better idea. I had a concept of mine pitched out in Hollywood back in 1995 and nearly had it picked up by Fox. I think it's time to dust off Shadowhaven and see how it holds up ten years later. The advantage with Shadowhaven is I don't have to really create anything new. I know this project by heart. It's just a matter of putting it in the format/style that Mr. Robinson is looking for.
Speaking of college, I enrolled for Spring semester tonight. I'll have Intro to Fiction, Drama and Poetry on Monday nights and Creative Writing on Tuesday nights. I've decided to avoid Saturday classes in the future if I can, given my penchant for going to conventions. The only concern I have in the future is the dearth of English classes taught at night. There were seven courses for spring semester and five of them were scheduled on Tuesday night. Can we say, "conflict"? Sure, I knew you could. The other option is to try and take some 3pm classes and then make up the time the other days of the week. Bleah there also. But, for now, if I can get one class this summer (Eng Comp II is my goal then), and two more in Fall and Spring, that'll give me 27 English credits and depending how many credits they'll transfer from Central Missouri State, I should be able to get my AA from Howard Community College and transfer to UM-Baltimore County for my Bachelors and Masters. (Yeah, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment.)
Speaking of CMSU, I caught the score of the CMSU/Pittsburg State game last Saturday. 83-21, CMSU! Go Mules. I think this is the first time in seven years we've beaten Pitt St. and it was the worst conference loss in their history. Bwah-hah-hah! At 7-3 we're not going to the Div II tournament (although 3 MIAA teams are, Washburn, Northwest Missouri State and Pitt State). We just weren't consistent enough to warrant a higher ranking. Maybe next year. Then again, last year, we were 10-2 and didn't make the playoffs. Hell, we finished third in conference with a 6-2 record. MIAA is a tough conference and getting tougher next year when Ft. Hayes joins. Going to be fun. Well, it's time to start getting ready for Mule basketball.
I have to admit, I've really been enjoying watching Code Lyoko on Cartoon Network's Miguzi. It's one of the better cartoons, combining both 2D animation while they're in the "real world" and 3D animation when they're in the virtual world of Lyoko. Even if it is French anime, it's still a very well done and well thought out show. If you haven't watched it, I recommend it.
Speaking of thought out, I was able to get some writing done on Harbinger today. I added another 1,934 words to Chapter 31 and should finish it up tomorrow. I've got several meetings tomorrow I have to attend but really don't concern me. Might as well use the time wisely. ;)
Current Harbinger status:
