We're now the owners of a 2005 Toyota Matrix. Took a lot longer than I had anticipated to do all the paperwork, etc., but in the end I managed not to clobber the "highly bored" daughter unit and wishweaver and I became the proud owners of a new car, with all of 18 miles on it. It'll seem odd not to have the Rav-4 out in the driveway. We've had it since November 1999, but it was definitely starting to show its age. I keep looking out at my truck (a 1991 Toyota Pick-up) and wondering if I ought to consider getting something else, but it's still running well. Just needs a little TLC (and a new air-conditioner). But, considering its main purpose is to drive me to work and back home and haul my stuff to the occasional convention, it's still cooking right along.
It'd been a nice two years without a car payment of any kind. Nothing like freeing up some cash to do other things around the house, but now it's time to start acting like a married couple again and maybe cut back a bit on all the running around we both do. I'm thinking a little belt-tightening might be a good thing anyway. Start saving up for some stuff we want to do with the house one of these days (like finishing the basement, so I can have that family entertainment room downstairs . . . a little place to watch some football without all the comments from the non-sports-oriented people I live with.)
Got home late, so I didn't get as much done on my story as I wanted to, but I did make some progress and have figured out how to merge a couple of chapters from the original outline. Looks like I can tie up these rabbit trails I've been checking out the last six chapters and still salvage most of the last couple of pages of the outline. Just need to deal with the last dangling plot line that worked its way into my story back in Chapter 5. 1242 words was my total tonight.
