Writing and Conventions

Had a good day today out visiting with friends, finishing up the visit with a viewing of The Blues Brothers. My wife had never seen it and it was fun to see someone watching it for the first time. Yes, it’s a silly movie, but holy kraut, I’d forgotten how much I loved the music in that one.

After everything settled down, I got back to work.  Went to the Musa Publishing site and sent in my suggestions for the dust cover blurbs for Ripples in the Pool. Once I was satisified with my submission, I got back to work on On Wings of Steel and added 1650+ words to my novel. Finally getting back into a rhythm on this story, which is a welcome relief.

Also, looks like I’m going to be adding two more cons to next year’s schedule that I hadn’t gone to this year. The first one is Awesome Con D.C.. I’ll be attending this one with Steve Roman and helping out at the StarWarp Concepts booth again.

The other show I will be attending will be my first World Fantasy Convention in Washington D.C. in November 2014. I’ve attended a couple of NASFICs but this will be my first WFC. I am already getting stoked about it and it’s still over a year away.  Everyone has told me I need to attend one of these, and since it’s going to be in my back yard, I’d be crazy to pass it up.

So, it’s time to start wrapping things up for work tomorrow. Then hopefully finish my Shore Leave Con report and get more writing done on the novel . . . and the short story . . . and the novella . . . oh, and don’t forget school starts in a few weeks . . .

Thanks! For some reason I was really sweating the LitCrit class. It wasn't easy by any stretch, but I think I made it harder on myself by overthinking stuff.

I'm going to take a critique of Dracula based on one school of literary criticism (say, Neo-Marxist) and then deconstruct that critique using the focus of a different school of theory (say feminist,…

Well, if you want to fly over here, I can put you up at my place and get you a guest ticket. *grin* Might even try to get your opinion of my scotch collection.

    Airfare is on you, though.
