Celebrating past and present

Didn't get much writing done this weekend because we were busy celebrating the daughter-unit's 17th Birthday. Took her out for a family dinner on Friday and then she had a couple of friends come over for Saturday/Sunday.

It was a good time and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves (which is always a good thing). The D-U's friends have only met a couple of times (one's from here in MD and one's from VA), but they're both anime fans, you-tube fans and seemed to enjoy the Wii on Saturday night (well into Sunday morning . . . too well for my taste). *grin*

Still can't believe she's going to be a HS senior next year. *aaauuggghh!*

I do have book related news though. Pocket has posted a preview of the Star Trek S.C.E. anthology I'll be in this coming August. It's entitled "What's Past" and collects stories #61-66 that we wrote looking back at what some of the daVinci's crew did before they joined the Corps of Engineers. My story, Echoes of Coventry, follows Bart Faulwell's adventures in Starfleet Intelligence and the price that comes from that.

Kendo tonight and maybe some writing if I don't kill myself.

Um, Bart, sweetie. Bart. :)

And that's what the cover looks like. Nice. Floating heads in space without the floating heads. I hadn't gotten to see it yet.

It's Monday Morning. I'm glad I could remember how to spell his last name, much less his first. (edits have been made to the post). The first time I tried typing it in, I came up with Burt which I knew was wrong. See what happens when you don't write about a character for five years.

I found this on one of my Google Alerts. It comes from TrekMovie.com.

No pic of the other S.C.E. book yet.

It is a nice cover, I agree. However, the Simon & Schuster catalog states it's not the final one. I expect there'll be at least one other (possibly floating) element.

Ideally, that'll be Scotty's grinning mug. :D

Hey, if they update it, then it gives me another excuse for a blog post. *grin*

I thought nice moon rising above an ice-encrusted planet would be a nice touch, but I'm not too greedy.

I have a bit of a hard time believing they'd go to that much work for a catalog mockup cover, but I'll take their word for it.

If nothing else, it's missing two names!

Wow! That's a good point. They left out Heather Jarman (#65) and Keith DeCandido (#66). Yeah, that one may have to go back into the shop for some repairs.
