Went ahead and started shoveling while the snow was still coming down. Decided it would be easier to remove some now and some later than all later. It took a bit just to get the mound of snow in front of our door out of the way so that wishweaver and I could get out there and work at the same time. Of course, one of our shovels is cracked, so I had to take the snow down about 4" at a time so I didn't damage it any more than it was. I concentrated on the sidewalks while wishweaver concentrated on the driveway.

What normally takes an hour tops wound up taking almost three hours of shoveling. We left the cars for later as well as the end of the driveway. We decided there was no real point in shoveling out the end of the drive since the snowplows would just fill it back in.

(That was before I found out the county doesn't intend to plow our street until late today or early Monday. Oh joy, oh bliss.)

I felt like I was digging trenches for a WWI battlefield out there. The snow was well over waist high on me before I started mounding it up from the shoveling. If I was a kid, the neighborhood would make a great place for snowball wars.

It stopped snowing last night around 7pm. According to the meteorologists, we got hit with 33" of snow.

Personally, I think they're underestimating the snow just a tad.

Given that it's 23 degrees outside, it's not going anywhere soon.

Now we just have to hope that the reports we're getting about another 20" on Wednesday don't pan out. That might bring this area to a standstill completely. I don't think the local stores have had a chance to restock on TP and milk yet. *grin*

Edit - 1148L

Snow Plow just trundled down Windharp. Apparently the county is 12 hours ahead of where they thought they'd be. Miata is even more buried now, but at least I can reach it once I finish the end of the driveway.

It took us four hours to dig out in December. Less time now, but more shovels - I paid some kids to come help us.

Mailman's gonna have to come up the driveway, though, because the front walk is gonna stay buried until spring.
