Make-up days

Well, I set out today to make up for yesterday's lack of production. I think I accomplished that.

I've finished Chapters Eight and Nine in Steel on Target, adding in four new scenes and still trimming almost 800 more words out of the book. Just shy of cutting 6,000 words out of the intial draft. I'm also completely redoing the breaks between Chapters Eight, Nine, Ten and Eleven in the near future. Oh, and I already see two new scenes I need to add into Chapters Ten and Eleven.

Plus, thanks to my Quattro Pro spreadsheet, I caught two major continuity errors. I'm so glad I spent the time to go through what I had done in this book already and copy names, dates and places into a separate file for easy review. I guess my old Drill Sergeants were right - "The more you sweat now, the less you'll bleed out there."

Got a chunk of my writing done while wishweaver was at her beading class. She's learning how to weave chainmail. I used to know how to do it, but my chainmail wasn't exactly jewelery quality . . . more like "stop sword" quality using 12-14 gauge steel wire back in my SCA days. I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed with how quickly she picked it up and she's turning out some pretty fine work these days.

Probably won't get a lot of writing done tomorrow. Going over to a friends place to sample his January homebrew and watch "Shawn of the Dead" for the first time. Not normally my style of movie, but I understand this is more of a parody than a straight zombie movie, so we'll see how it goes. If nothing else, I'll post my reaction to the movie tomorrow.

Almost recovered from my kendo session last Monday. Which is good, since I have kendo this Monday again. Hopefully, it'll be a tad less painful this time.
