Rolling along

Another good day of writing. I like how I'm starting to build some momentum toward the new year. I added another 1705 words to Steel on Target tonight and a new wrinkle appeared to harass my cavalry troopers. I had set up a battle scene, but it was going too well for them.

Well, any person who's ever read Murphy's Laws of Battle should know the maxim - "If an attack is going too well, it's an ambush". Now, since I'm not doing this with an outline, all I know is how I want the book to end eventually. I have no plans on how we're going to get there, which I have to admit is weirding me out more than just a bit.

As of this moment, I don't know if the boys were walking into an ambush or not, but I made sure the commander of my lost squadron thinks it could be an ambush. Now, whether this is going to make him look like a hero to the members of his squadron because he's right, or make him look indecisive and foolish, I have no idea. That'll be a subject I'll have to address when I pick this up again.

However, I think at 3:00 in the morning it's about time to go to bed.

Later.
