Writing and wondering

Worked on Childhood's Tears again this evening, getting about halfway through Chapter Two. Things are already starting to deviate from my original plot, but that's good. It means the characters are starting to tell the story, not the narrator. Added another 1293 words so it's a good evening worth of typing.

I see some people post, who'll remain nameless, whose typing speeds do nothing but make me jealous. My problem is, I think much faster than my 50wpm keyboard speed, so I'm racing ahead of where my fingers are and then I have to stop, go back, read what I typed and then try to remember where I was going with this. I think in some ways that's why I wrote Gauntlet Dark Legacy: Paths of Evil by hand. Composing at the keyboard is actually slower for me than just writing it down on paper and then typing/editing it later. You'd think after all this time I'd be getting better at this, but I think I've just about topped out with my typing prowess. *sigh*

Still, progress is progress.

I'm very curious what's going to happen with LJ's change of ownership. I know I'm probably being paranoid, but I'm going to be very interested in seeing what changes come about - especially for those of us with permanent accounts.

Not a useful comment, sorry; just had to say I love the icon!

Yeah, I have mostly Snoopy icons for my writing ones, but that one seems appropriate when it's time to 'get busy'.

Yes, I'm curious about the change in ownership too - it would be kind of rough if radical changes were made and I had to let go of this! It's good for both getting in touch with friends and for us writers (who may not get out much*G*) to meet one another.

As for typing speeds, I sympathize. There are periods, it's true, when I can just bang out stuff faster than light speed, but mostly I'm plodding along. Take heart; there's other slowpokes out there:)

I type really, really fast, from years of working at a computer, but I understand about not being able to type fast enough to keep up with what you're thinking. I do that, too, and it's sooooo frustrating!!!

I guess the new change of ownership explains all the frustrating changes LJ has initiated over the past year, huh?

I remember a guy I used to work with back in the Army who's mom had been a courtroom stenographer. Dale could type 120wpm on a manual typewriter.

With the old 286s we used to have, he would type so fast that letters would still be appearing on the screen when he finished, the processor was that far behind. It was incredible to watch.
