And it's a go

Got a note today from Marco. Short and sweet.

"Heard back from Paula at CBS. Outline approved."

So, barring my inability to get this puppy done on time, I'll be in The Sky's the Limit, the 2007 Star Trek Anthology. Course, it would help if I was a tad more focused, but it's been tough writing these past few days. I got some words written (538 words), but I'm going to have to really bust my butt this weekend to make up the lost days.

I can see where I'm going to have to trim Redshift down some also. I'm already pushing 8600 words and I've got three more big scenes to write. Oh well. At least I have some areas where trimming isn't going to be painful. It's the other section I'm going to have to trim that's going to be painful. It's a really interesting scene between Pulaski and Wesley, but I'm going to have to look and see how much of it is accessory and how much is actually pushing the story forward.

Writing short stuff isn't easy. I'm much more a novella/novel person.

Also, got half my other short story outlined. Just waiting to hear from the editor that the plot has been approved and when he's going to need it by.

I'd love to, if they'd get off their fourth point of contact and invite me.

I've been talking to Tee and Tony, they say the Guest person should be contacting me. I've written the guest person. Nothing.

I enjoyed the con (and meeting all of you) there, but if they don't invite me, that's just that much less on my credit card this year.

<--- is becoming rather fatalistic about conventions this year.

Thanks! For some reason I was really sweating the LitCrit class. It wasn't easy by any stretch, but I think I made it harder on myself by overthinking stuff.

Just one class this fall (schedule just…

I'm going to take a critique of Dracula based on one school of literary criticism (say, Neo-Marxist) and then deconstruct that critique using the focus of a different school of theory (say feminist,…

Well, if you want to fly over here, I can put you up at my place and get you a guest ticket. *grin* Might even try to get your opinion of my scotch collection.

    Airfare is on you, though.
