Well, so much for Happy Halloween

On the way to pick up the daughter-unit from a friends house, I had to stop at an intersection on a fairly dark corner. I start to pull out when I see headlights approaching, so I stop to be sure they're going to turn.

BAM!

I get rear-ended by the person behind me who "thought I had pulled out", so she started forward while watching the same traffic I was. My rear bumper is going to have to be replaced and the reservoir for the rear window wipers sprayed water all down the back of my car. I'm hoping it's not damaged also.

The other car got it worse. They're going to have to replace their right front quarter panel, front bumper, front grill and the right front headlight. Plus, their quarter panel is rubbing on their right front tire, so they'll have to do something before they can take it to the garage.

At least they had insurance and no one was hurt in either car.

*sigh*

And then, on the way home after securing the daughter-unit, I had two deer try to kamikaze my car going down that same road.

I think I'm in for the evening.

*double sigh*

Yeah, I think this is the third time we've been rear-ended since we moved to Maryland (once in the Rav, once in the truck and now the Matrix.)

*le sigh*

Oy. Having been on both ends of a rear-ending, you can take heart in the fact that the rear-ended always is better off than the rear-ender (which marks the most times I've used variations of "rear-end" in a sentence....).

It is just annoying that I was trying to be extra careful because of all the kids out and such.

Maryland has been really rough on our cars. Between the vandalism, break-ins and accidents, I've never had so many claims on my insurance. Pfeah. No wonder rates are so high around here.

Two deer? They must want you really bad. I was only attacked by a lone operator (on 175, fall 2004).
